Dutchman Voltage RV Kitchen and Living Space

This kitchen and living space is EASILY in my top 3 favorite spaces. I love how its BRIGHT, but also has a fun POP of color, and that the slide furniture can be configured in so many ways to make this slide multi functional!

AFTER BEFORE

Demo in this space was incredibly extensive. We removed every.single.thing in the slide. The dinette, the giant couch, all the valances, the blinds, the ceiling wood detail. Everything! In the kitchen, we actually kept almost all of it! We kept the cabinets, the countertop, the sink, and the appliances. Talk about juxtaposition!

After demo, I sanded all the kitchen cabinets which was a huge job due to the size of this amazing kitchen. I created a board and batten wall in the slide which gave some height and texture. I primed the whole space with STIX primer, and painted the entire space. (Paint colors and type of paint linked below)

KITCHEN AFTER KITCHEN BEFORE

In the kitchen, I added a peel and stick backsplash that actually has an anti yellowing agent and is guaranteed to never fade or discolor from the sun! To learn more about how I installed the peel and stick tiles, read my prior blog post, Faux Backsplash Tutorial. We added the appliances back in, new hardware, a new faucet, and this beautiful machine washable runner.

In the slide, I added shiplap paneling to the ceiling to add some dimension and to cover the damage from the old wood ceiling piece. I added two new residential lights which made the space feel so much more custom. Did you know that you can add ANY light fixture you want to your RV, you just have to make sure to use a 12V lightbulb!

I painted the upper cabinets of the fireplace a beautiful pop of maroon that I think goes so well with the new floors. I painted the old plastic stone fireplace surround with STIX Primer and then painted it with a lime paint. This totally transformed the "stone" and made it really look like a stone fireplace!

To finish off the slide, we added an amazing sleeper sofa from IKEA that has great storage underneath as well, we added two benches in place of the dinette, and we were able to use the old dining table which looks so beautiful with the new benches. We added blinds, and this space was done!

I love how multifunctional this slide is! Look at the 3 ways the furniture can be moved around in here to accommodate so many different uses!

Configuration 1: Both benches at the dinette and sofa.

Configuration 2: Sleep Sofa pulled out to sleep 2 or for movie nights.

Configuration 3: One bench becomes and ottoman for easy lounging.
