My goal in this kitchen renovation was to mix metals in a smart way, that allowed me to mix and match without making the metals in the kitchen clash. The reason for this was that I wanted to keep the stainless fridge and stove, but didn't want to be "matchy-matchy" and use chrome hardware.
I painted the entire kitchen white, except for pantry which was painted a taupe color (paint color names below). We replaced the kitchen sink with a newer, modern, single bowl stainless sink. We changed out the countertops to a marble laminate. I opted to take out the microwave cabinet and replace it with much needed open shelving because the microwave cabinet took up so much head space and made the kitchen slide feel so small. Don't worry though! We are are going to be adding a small microwave cart for the little empty nook in the corner of the kitchen.
The white cabinets got champagne gold hardware, the taupe cabinets got black hardware, and lighting is black, and the faucet is champagne gold. It was the perfect mix of metal in my opinion!
You'll also never believe this but the backsplash isn't real tile! It's faux brick 1/4" paneling from Lowes that I turned on it side to create vertical bricks and painted with the same taupe color from the pantry. Super lightweight solution to tile that looks just as good!
Another fun project was the island. I didn't want to keep the original wood tone, but I didn't want to paint it either. So I decided on these really thin, lightweight barn wood planks from Lowes. They really make the island pop!
